Off the Shelf – #3

Hi everyone!

‘Off the Shelf’ is a twice monthly post where I regain control of my TBR and focus on those books that have been languishing on my bookshelves for too long. I will select a book that I have owned for more than year, talk a little bit about the book and why I purchased it, and then actually read it 😊

My third pick is…

My Heart & Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga

What is it all about?

Physics nerd Aysel and popular, handsome Roman are practically strangers, but they’ve been drawn into an unthinkable partnership. In one month’s time, they plan to commit suicide – together.

With the deadline getting closer, something starts to grow between them – a feeling Aysel never thought she would experience. It seems there might be something to live for, after all – but is Aysel in so deep she can’t turn back?

Why did you buy it?

I bought this book at a time when I was trying to expand my reading into new genres. For me, the subject matter of this book was unusual and I was keen to read something totally different.

How long has it been on the shelf?

This has been on my shelf for just over one year.

Why now?

I have been reading an awful lot of fantasy recently and am a bit stuck on my current read. I wanted to read something totally different to prevent me falling into a slump as I could see the foreboding signs. This book is so different to the other books I have been reading recently that I thought it would be just the thing to try.

Have you read My Heart & Other Black Holes? What did you think of this book? How are you tackling your TBR? Let me know in the comments below.
