Mini Book Review: Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them – Newt Scamander

img_0547This is a fun addition to the world of Harry Potter. Not to be confused with the recent screenplay, this book is a copy of Harry’s own textbook and has notes and doodles within the margins. The foreword is by Dumbledore.

It is a well thought out book and a good accompaniment to the series. I recognised many of the beasts from both Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter. Look for the comments on Acromantula, Basilisk and  Hippogriff for that nice warm Harry Potter hug.

For anyone thinking of reading this, bear in mind that it is a textbook – an A-Z of fantastic beasts. The humour is found in the foreword and the annotation, which brings you right back to Hogwarts.

This edition was published in 2009 and is no longer readily available, but I understand that an updated version is due to be published in March 2017.
